Castle Farms was built in 1918 as a model working dairy farm by the acting president of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Today, it offers guests the chance to stroll through 100 years of history. Year round self-guided tours give visitors the opportunity to visit the buildings and gardens at their own pace, while summer guided tours offer a more in-depth tour full of stories and fascinating historical facts from a professional tour guide.

Families will find much to enjoy, including ponds for feeding fish and ducks, the Enchanted Forest full of gnomes, the Alphabet Garden with whimsical art, the towering Hedge Maze with overhead trains, and Norm the resident dragon. Castle Farms is home to Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad, a favorite for young and old alike. G, HO, and N-scale trains are represented in both whimsical and traditional displays. Open May-October, weather permitting, the railroad currently boasts over 70 trains and over 2500 feet of track.

Those looking for a leisurely day will enjoy the extensive museum-quality collections featuring royal family memorabilia from around the world as well as the 1918 Museum. The museum is dedicated to the WWI era and showcases many items found in the Sears Roebuck catalog from that time. The acres of formal and informal gardens are a joy from late spring through fall and offer many photo opportunities.

Plan at least 2 hours for your visit, but many families spend the entire day on the grounds and bring a picnic lunch. An on-site Gift Shop will surprise you with unique items for the home, jewelry, scarves, kids castle-themed fun, books by local authors, and fairy garden accessories.

Completely restored to its original splendor Castle Farms hosts tours, weddings, and charity and corporate events.

This place is absolutely incredible! We were blown away by how big this place was and how much they had to see and do. This castle was built and inspired by French normandy castes and it definitely shows when you start to walk around, they also do some guided tours telling you some of the history of the land and castle. They have multiple beautiful venues for weddings and stuff along with a museum and lots more! This property also features the largest outdoor miniature train setup in Michigan so that alone is worth seeing! 12/10 would stop by to check out!

A Fairytale Escape at Castle Farms, Michigan Visiting Castle Farms in Charlevoix, Michigan, feels like stepping into a storybook. With its elegant stone architecture, charming gardens, and rich history, it’s a destination that offers both beauty and a glimpse into the past. Walking through the castle grounds, I was captivated by the meticulously maintained gardens, each one bursting with seasonal flowers and picturesque pathways. The Enchanted Forest was a delightful surprise, adding a touch of whimsy to the experience. Inside, the grand halls and historical exhibits told the fascinating story of the castle’s transformation—from a 1918 dairy farm to a stunning event venue. One of the highlights was the model train display, which fascinated both kids and adults with its intricate details. The atmosphere throughout the estate was peaceful, making it an ideal place for a relaxing afternoon. Whether you’re a history lover, a garden enthusiast, or just searching for a unique Michigan experience, Castle Farms is a must-visit. It’s easy to see why it’s a popular wedding venue—it truly feels like a fairy tale brought to life.

Gorgeous castle with cool history. Went on a Tuesday in March so the trains weren't running and the gardens were dead, but that was expected and I still thoroughly enjoyed my walk around the grounds and castle. The self-guided tour was fun and the information they give you is plenty to see everything on your own. Friendly staff, gorgeous grounds and castle. Norm the dragon was cool. Definitely coming back when it's warmer.

What a great venue. When my bride said she was having a Medieval vibe to her wedding at Castle Farms I wasn't sure what to expect. Various reception rooms and ceremony sites, large staff, beautiful manicured grounds, lots of guest parking, kind and helpful staff, stone walls, everything in one spot, catering area with large fridge, fun acoustics for a party... Awesome place to have a wedding. Great location in Charlevoix by the water to spend the weekend with family and friends. - Chef Suzy of Chive Catering + Events

Wow! Im not sure where to start and I know I won’t cover everything. We had my Daughters wedding at Castle farms in August 2024 and it was perfect. First we looked at many venues for my daughter’s wedding and nothing compared. We initially did a virtual tour with Castle farms online and we loved it. We drove 4 hours to come see the venue in person and we couldn’t believe how perfect it was! All the communication up to and the day of was top notch. They have a convenient payment schedule so you don’t have to pay the entire venue fee upfront which was very appreciated. Throughout the year before the wedding any questions we had (and there were many) were responded too promptly and friendly. It really felt that they went out of their way to make sure we were happy and everything would go as planned. Once my daughter received her coordinator Bella, the communication continued to be perfect. The day of the wedding everything went as planned and Bella was there every step of the way. The weather was forecasted 90% chance of rain and this Momma was stressed. Bella helped my anxiety and assured me everything would work out and that they had plenty of umbrellas if if did rain. Fortunately the weather held out and it was just a perfect day. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. Our ceremony was in the Queens courtyard and the reception was in the East garden room and it was exactly what my daughter envisioned. Thank you for making the most important day perfect ❤️
