We stayed here over Valentine's Day weekend. It was a lovely weekend up north and we enjoyed ourselves. A couple of notes: There is major air leakage from the windows and around the sliders. A gentleman with a diesel truck was parked backwards in front of our first floor room and I thought we were going to get sick from the fumes that came in through the closed window. In the main room, our thermostat was set to 74 and it was freezing in there. The fireplace would have been lovely to use, but it was filled with ash. We were happy to have a little refrigerator in our room. It froze everything solid, even at the lowest setting. As a historical motel, it's nice. I'm sure it's super busy in the summer. However, even historically there must be something that can be done in regards to the air leakage.

The entire hotel is very tired! We requested a water view king size suite. The view was a joke, we could barely see the water. The entire room was 1960’s dated and very dirty. The carpet was very warn. The vent over the stove was covered in thick dust. I would never stay there again!

To no fault of the receptionist...this place was subpar. I am a flexible, realistic traveler- this was not a positive addition. The hot tub was so overly chlorinated, we were coughing (all three of us). To shower the chlorine off, spiders came from the shower faucet and sink faucet. Also the buildings are disconnected with no bathroom/changing room. While the receptionist refunded me, this I could not recommend - to anyone.

The location is great as is the view. The staff go above and beyond. The place however is way past it's prime. Rooms have mold. The room we stayed at had a spider in the corner that had a web made over it. There are no elevators so if you have issues with stairs request a first floor room. The stairs here are in a turret and are in a spiral. (Super cool at times but dangerous mostly.) The place was built into a hill and on a curve they can only do so much.

The picture of the jacuzzi with 3 ppl was at full capacity. There was a crack in the wall and a stain in the carpet. The T.V. remote didn't work and the two chairs were uncomfortable and low to the floor. The beds were comfortable but too close to the walls. We were excited to stay here but once we were here we couldn't wait to leave. As far as the breakfast, what eco friendly place serves hot food on styrofoam plates. The staff was very nice. Now, the downtown. Bars were dinghy, prices were high. Nothing exciting .We live in Michigan but have no urge to visit again. There are many more places in Michigan to visit that are much more exciting. I never write review but felt that I needed to on this one.
